Unless otherwise stated in the applicable agreement, the retainer is applied toward the total project fee and is not an additional charge.

Clients do not always need to authorize an entire investigation at the beginning. When appropriate, services can be separated into logical stages.

The same type of service can require substantially different amounts of work depending on the evidence, vehicle condition, technology, location, and complexity of the assignment.

Is the 30% retainer an additional fee?
No. Unless otherwise stated in the applicable agreement, the retainer is applied toward the agreed project fee. For example, a $750 retainer applied to a $2,500 project would normally leave a remaining project balance of $1,750.
Does every project require a 30% retainer?
Not necessarily. Retainer and payment requirements may vary depending on the type of service, project size, scheduling requirements, travel, urgency, and other circumstances. Some limited-scope services may require payment in full, while larger projects may use retainers or milestone payments.
Can I request only an EDR or black-box download?
Yes. When appropriate, electronic-data retrieval may be performed as a limited-scope service without requiring the client to purchase a complete crash reconstruction. Additional analysis can be authorized later if needed.
Why can't every vehicle be quoted at the same price?
Vehicle manufacturers use different electronic modules, software, communication protocols, access procedures, and diagnostic systems. Vehicle condition and collision damage can also substantially change the amount of labor and equipment required.
What happens if the vehicle is severely damaged?
Additional procedures may be necessary when collision damage prevents normal access or electronic communication. This can include trim removal, electrical restoration, component repositioning, direct-to-module connections, module removal, or bench downloading. Additional charges may apply when these procedures are required.
Do you provide nationwide services?
Yes. Crodymi LLC may accept both remote and on-site assignments. Projects requiring travel may include professional travel time and reasonable travel-related expenses depending on the location and scope.
Can a project be divided into stages or multiple payments?
Depending on the assignment, services may be divided into evidence collection, technical analysis, formal reporting, and litigation-support stages. Approved payment arrangements or milestone payments should be identified in the applicable quote, invoice, or service agreement.
Does hiring an expert guarantee a particular conclusion?
No. Professional fees are based on the services performed, not on whether the evidence favors a particular party. Technical findings and opinions must be based on the available evidence and appropriate scientific, engineering, statistical, or forensic methodology.
